Session 50

This is the day when we have our ICT exam.

Session 49 (20 September 2012)

Today Mr. Z gave exam tips for the exam. We also need to update our blog until session 50 by Sunday.

Session 48 (18 September 2012)

Teacher gave us 3 forms to give to the Japanese students. Mr. Z hopes that we can have more friends from other countries.

Session 47 (13 September 2012)

Today I was not around because I went for practicing for the Hari Merdeka sketch. Teacher had a discussion on what to present and decorate before the arrival of the Japanese students.

Session 46 (11 September 2012)

Today I was absent. I heard my friends said that teacher gaves a short preview on what we will be learning next year.

Continue to do SSQS.

Session 44 (4 September 2012)

Today I help Mr. Z to do the SSQS. We have to do survey from certain teachers.

Session 43 (14 August 2012)

We still continue to do our SPM assessment.

Session 42 (9 August 2012)

We continue to do our SPM assessment.

Session 41 (7 August 2012)

We did the presentation for our SPM assessment.

Session 40 (2 August 2012)

We have to complete the written assignment by 16 August 2012.

Session 39 (31 July 2012)

Teacher brief us about about SPM assessment. We have to print out the result of the anti-virus and anti-spyware scanning. We also have to do a presentation about the impact of ICT on society. The due date for submitting the presentation via e-mail is on Sunday.

Session 38 (26 July 2012)

Mr. Z was absent so we continue to do our hands-on activities.

Session 37

I was absent today. My friends told me to send LO via e-mail tonight and pass up the LO tomorrow. Mr.Z also gives me the souvenir he bought from Sabah (I guess). My friends also give me the sticker to stick on the cable.

Teacher was not around today so we did cross cable.

Session 35

-  Teacher tells about the current and future developments of the computer networks and communications.

-  Mr. Z also said that he will be absent on the next session so we have to work on our cross cable.

Session 34 (5 July 2012)

Teacher is absent today so we continue to work on the straight cable.

Session 33 (3 July 2012)

- Teacher wants us to do straight cable today. He provides us the connector and cable to do it. I think it was fun because this is the first time I connect the connector to the cable.

Session 32 (28 June 2012)

Teacher went to a meeting at Putrajaya so we stay at Pusat Akses and continue our PC assembly.

Session 31 (26 June 2012)

-  There are five type of protocol, which are Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Fail Transfer Protocol (FTP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP)

-  Modem is a device that enables a computer to transmit data over telephone or cable lines.

-  A router is used to connect segments of a LAN.

-  A hub/switch forwards data packets across a network toward their destinations.

- WAP connects wireless communication devices together to form a wireless network.

-  Example of NOS are Windows NT, Red Hat Linux, Apple Share and Novell Netware.

Session 30 (21 June 2012)

- Network Architecture can be defined as the overall design of a computer network that describes how a computer network is configured and what strategies are being used. It is also known as network model.

- Client/Server Network is a network in which the shared files and applications are stored in the server but network users (clients) can still store files on their individual PCs.

- Bus Topology is a main physical pathway or central cable where all other devices are connected to it.

- Star Topology consists a central host which acts as the centre, and all nodes connect to the host.

Session 29 (14 June 2012)

- There are three types of network, which are LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network) and MAN (Metropolitan Area Network).

- LAN covers a small region of space.


- MAN is a collection of LANs with the same geographical area.


- WAN is a collection of LANs or MANs or the mix of two with a very large geographical area.


- Setting up MAN is more expensive than LAN but less than WAN.


- LAN covers only a limited area, MAN covers a greater area, and WAN covers the largest geographical area.


- LAN offers the best speed, followed by MAN and WAN.


- LAN uses the cheapest transmission media.

Session 28 (12 June 2012)

- Network is a system of interconnected computers and peripheral devices.

- Communications is a transfer of information from a sender, across a distance, to a receiver.

- MODEM stands for modulator or demodulator.

- Communication will be possible if got cable, protocol and system application.

- Network communication channel:
  • twisted-pair wire
  • fibre-optic wire
  • satelite

- Teacher reminds us again that we must complete all our work before the exam.

- Teacher wants us to target result for our own ETR.

- Mrs. Nobuko had sent us the food and drawings drawn by the Japanese students. I would like to say thank you to Mrs. Nobuko and her students.

- We have to complete the ICT contribution, Bytz, link sharing, index and blog. If not we cannot take the exam next week.

- The due date to complete the blog is on 9 May.

- We have to do a portfolio about LA 2.5.2. We have to pass up by thumbdrive after the school holiday.

- We have to complete our ICT contribution, Bytz, link sharing, index and blog.

- I'm in Group B in PC Assembling. My group members are Kim Kwee, Hazim, Saros, Jia Shing and Nuri Haziyah.

Session 20 (12 April 2012)

- Compare the old version and the future devices.

- Mr.Z requests us to go to the PC Fair with our parents or friends. He advises us to not to go by our self, it's very dangerous.

- Learn about Pre-PC Assembling.

-Utility Program is a service program which perform maintenance-type task.

-Types of Utility Program: file manager, diagnostic utility, disk defragmenter, backup utility, data recovery, antivirus software, data compression, and disk scanner and disk cleanup.

Session 18 (5 April 2012)

- Operating System is a program that manages all the application software and hardware resources in a computer.

- Functions of Operating System
  -> Starting a computer
  -> Providing using interface
  -> Managing data
  -> Managing memory
  -> Configuring devices

- Booting is to load and initialize the operating system on a computer machine. It happens in two ways, which is warm boot and cold boot.

Ports - Point which peripheral attaches to a system unit

CPU interprets and carries out the basic instructions that operate a computer.

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) perform all arithmetic and logical operations

- 1MB = 1048576 Bytes
- 1GB = 1073741824 Bytes
- 1TB = 1099511627776 Bytes

- Clock speed = Hertz

- 1.0 GHz = 1000 MHz

- We learn new area today, which is Area 2.

- The title for Area 2 is Computer System.

- We have to do lesson plan for Learning Area 2.

- IPC stands for Information Processing Cycle.

- CPU is a processor. It acts as the brain in computer.

- Defintion of:
 
  Computer System - combination of components designed to process data and store files.

  Input - any data or instruction that we enter into the computer system for processing.

  Output - data that has been processed into a useful form, called information.

  Storage - a location which data, information and instruction are held for future.

- CPU stands for Central Processing Unit.

- RAM stands for Random Access Memory.

- Mr. Z says that ICT contribution is very important.

- Today we put all our Learning Outcome into the folder.

- We meet Mrs. Lucia today. Felicia, Hazim and Thamilarasi have communication with her. She advises us to get help from other people.

- There are 6 peoples who cannot answer the definition of ICT.

- Next Tuesday Mr.Z is not in the class. We have to present the presentation next lesson.

Session 11

- Give back the exam paper.
- My result is so BAD. I will study harder in the future.
- Mr.Z said we have to take another 2 more test. If we can't get GOOD results for the test, during holiday we will have to attend the class. I will study harder so that I don't need to attend the class because I got some event during the holidays. The event CANNOT BE CANCELLED. I hope Mr. Z notice this.
- Task:

   - send the Learning Outcome and PowerPoint file via e-mail

Session 10

Today the exam was delayed until Saturday so we have our class today. We have video conferencing with Mrs. Nobuko, an ICT teacher from Japan. Some of my friends have conversation with Mrs. Nobuko. I'm so happy and excited because I like to have communication with people from other country.

I met my new group member. The new group members are Lim Kim Hian, Jeevan and Alvin Chin. I took their handphone number.

- Today Mr.Z tells us about Information and Communication Technology.

- The meaning of ICT is the technology required for information processing, in particular, the use of electronic computers, communication devices and software applications to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information from anywhere, anytime.

- The meaning of compute is counting.

- The 1st computer in the world is abacus.

- Punch card & magnetic tape store data.

- Transistor were smaller than vacuum tube.

- Silicone chip can reduce the cost and size of computer.

Although this is not my first blog, but this is my first post in this blog. I have to face this blog for two years, which means until Form 5. When I first saw Mr.Zainuddin, I think he is a kind teacher. I will try my best in ICT.
