Session 35

-  Teacher tells about the current and future developments of the computer networks and communications.

-  Mr. Z also said that he will be absent on the next session so we have to work on our cross cable.

Session 34 (5 July 2012)

Teacher is absent today so we continue to work on the straight cable.

Session 33 (3 July 2012)

- Teacher wants us to do straight cable today. He provides us the connector and cable to do it. I think it was fun because this is the first time I connect the connector to the cable.

Session 32 (28 June 2012)

Teacher went to a meeting at Putrajaya so we stay at Pusat Akses and continue our PC assembly.

Session 31 (26 June 2012)

-  There are five type of protocol, which are Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Fail Transfer Protocol (FTP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP)

-  Modem is a device that enables a computer to transmit data over telephone or cable lines.

-  A router is used to connect segments of a LAN.

-  A hub/switch forwards data packets across a network toward their destinations.

- WAP connects wireless communication devices together to form a wireless network.

Session 30 (21 June 2012)

- Network Architecture can be defined as the overall design of a computer network that describes how a computer network is configured and what strategies are being used. It is also known as network model.

- Client/Server Network is a network in which the shared files and applications are stored in the server but network users (clients) can still store files on their individual PCs.

- Bus Topology is a main physical pathway or central cable where all other devices are connected to it.

- Star Topology consists a central host which acts as the centre, and all nodes connect to the host.

Session 29 (14 June 2012)

- There are three types of network, which are LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network) and MAN (Metropolitan Area Network).

- LAN covers a small region of space.

- MAN is a collection of LANs with the same geographical area.

- WAN is a collection of LANs or MANs or the mix of two with a very large geographical area.

- Setting up MAN is more expensive than LAN but less than WAN.

- LAN covers only a limited area, MAN covers a greater area, and WAN covers the largest geographical area.

- LAN offers the best speed, followed by MAN and WAN.

- LAN uses the cheapest transmission media.

Session 28 (12 June 2012)

- Network is a system of interconnected computers and peripheral devices.

- Communications is a transfer of information from a sender, across a distance, to a receiver.

- MODEM stands for modulator or demodulator.

- Communication will be possible if got cable, protocol and system application.

- Network communication channel:
  • twisted-pair wire
  • fibre-optic wire
  • satelite

Session 27 (10 May 2012)

- Teacher reminds us again that we must complete all our work before the exam.

- Teacher wants us to target result for our own ETR.
